If you bought the paperback version of my book, or previewed it on Amazon, you might have noticed the tiny figures on the back cover and wondered what in the world they are doing on top of that big sand dune.

Those people in the picture are sand boarding (also called sand sledding) on the "singing" dunes at Mojave National Preserve. The figure at the front appears to be a woman with a red sand sled.

I particularly like this photograph, which was taken by Joshua Sortino, because it shows people playing in what might otherwise seem like a harsh, forbidding, and sterile environment (it's not: it's a great place to see wildflowers). Have a grand week!
